The Ohlone Sisters Visit Our Elementary Students
Did you know that November is Native American Heritage Month? Tapscott welcomed some very special visitors this afternoon as Carla and Desiree Muñoz, otherwise known as the @ohlonesisters, came to share their culture through word and song. The elementary students got to hear one of the eight Ohlone languages, Rumsen, being spoken, learned about the different types of regalia worn by the Ohlone, and heard songs accompanied by instruments like clapper sticks and shell necklaces.
The students were also able to ask Carla and Desiree questions and join in a performance of the Ohlone ocean water song. Thank you @ohlonesisters for your invaluable visit and for sharing your time with our students! ❤️
