Spend Summer With Us

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Prospect Sierra welcomes families to both of our campuses for our annual Summer Program!

We know that young people need engagement that matches their intellect and curiosity. Our Summer Programs were developed with that in mind. We can’t wait to spend a wonderful summer with you.

THE PROGRAMS

K-5 Students

Tapscott Elementary School - 2022 Summer Program

For Rising K-5 students, each camp includes a group of between 12-30 students led by 1-2 Summer Lead Teachers and a Summer Teaching Fellow.

Every morning at camp, your child will be highly engaged. They’ll build on their existing skills while learning new ideas in core subjects like literature, math, writing, science, engineering, history, and music.

Camp afternoons focus on outdoor play, movement, exploration, physical education, and mindfulness. Our aim is for every child to come home looking forward to a good night’s sleep so they can return for more!

One week of Tapscott’s Summer Program includes:

  • Eight (8) hours/day of childcare at Prospect Sierra, a campus that has been professionally outfitted for sustained Covid-19 prevention
  • Camp t-shirt
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • An end-of-week presentation or performance to showcase what students learned

Extended Care is also available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for an additional fee. Please contact our Office of Extended Programs for more information.

  • Cost $450.00/week ($360.00 for the week of July 4)
  • Location Tapscott Elementary School Campus
  • Days/Time Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

5-8 Students

Avis Middle School

For our Rising 5-8 students, we offer Half-Day and Full-Day camp options. Each camp consists of stable groups of 12-24 students led by a Summer Lead Teacher.

Half-Day camps have a singular subject focus. They’re offered as a Morning Program and an Afternoon Program. Students can choose their subject focus from a wide range of engaging, project-based learning topics including creative writing, book club, drama, robotics, gaming, and basketball, for example.

The Full-Day camp allows middle schoolers to focus on two fascinating subjects every day—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. For Full-Day students, and for Half-Day students who choose to eat lunch on campus, families must provide their child lunch each day (please keep in mind that Tapscott is a nut-free campus). Rest assured lunchtime is outdoors so they can eat safely.

One week of Avis’s Summer Program includes:

  • Three (3) hours/day of programming (or 6 hours/day for the Full-Day program) at Prospect Sierra, a campus that has been professionally outfitted for sustained Covid-19 prevention
  • Optional 30-minute lunch time from 12:00-12:30 p.m.
  • Camp t-shirt
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • An end-of-week project, report, and/or discussion to showcase what students learned

2-8 Students

Basketball Camp

Coach Nick, the Prospect Sierra Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, offers in-person basketball every summer. Hoop it up at Panther Summer Basketball Camp!

Open to all students entering grades 2-8 in Fall 2023, our Summer Basketball Camp is designed to assist players of all skill levels who want to improve their skills while having fun. Coach Nick will be conducting camp for the 18th season. Campers will improve upon proper shooting technique and footwork as well as ball-handling and passing.
