The Changemakers Among Us
Kindergarteners have been learning about several people whose small, persistent actions led to change that still impacts us today: individuals like Georgia Gilmore, Wangarĩ Maathai, and Autumn Peltier who inspired change in the community around them.
We invited adult community members into the classroom to share their passions and give students hands-on experiences to see what it felt like to engage in the same work. This inspired us to learn about changemakers connected to these passions: sculptor Maria Martinez, architects Shigeru Ban and Frank Lloyd Wright, and physicist and chemist Marie Curie, to name a few.
Our young students are learning that no matter what you love to do, you can leverage your strengths to create a positive impact on the world!
