Our Summer Program gives Bay Area kids space to dig deep, try new things, and come home genuinely tired in the best way. Six weeks of camps across both campuses, for Rising K–8 students.

Project-based camps in middle school math (using curriculum from Stanford), Spanish cooking, basketball, volleyball, filmmaking, and more.

Summer Program Overview

Grades K to 5 (Tapscott Campus)

For Rising K-5 students, each camp includes a group of 12-30 students led by Summer Lead Teachers and Summer Teaching Fellows.

Every morning at camp, your child will be highly engaged. They’ll build on their existing skills while learning new ideas in core subjects like literature, math, writing, science, engineering, history, and music.

Camp afternoons focus on outdoor play, movement, exploration, physical education, and mindfulness. Our aim is for every child to come home looking forward to a good night’s sleep so they can return for more!

One week of Tapscott’s Summer Camp includes:

  • Eight (8) hours/day of childcare at Prospect Sierra
  • Kids spend their week in grade-banded camps: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th
  • PS Summer T-shirt for each student
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • End-of-week culminating project

Extended Care is also available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for an additional fee. Please contact our Summer Programs Office for more information.

Summer Program Overview

Grades 5 to 8 (Avis Campus)

For our Rising 5-8 students, sessions run 9 a.m.–2 p.m. daily, with stable groups of 12–24 students led by a Summer Lead Teacher.

Campers at our middle school campus can choose their subject focus from a wide range of engaging, project-based learning topics including mathematics, filmmaking, Spanish language and cooking, basketball, and volleyball for example.

Cost: $400 per week
The June 30-July 2 session is priced at $320 because no Friday classes in observance of the holiday week.

One week of Avis’s Summer Camp includes:

  • Daily 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. schedule
  • 30-minute lunch time from 12:00-12:30 p.m.
  • PS Summer T-shirt for each student
  • Whole-child teaching and support
  • Low student-to-staff ratio
  • End-of-week culminating project

Pokemon, myths and legends, Harry Potter, dragons, unicorns and magical creatures, wizards, witches and spell-making (story-based, not real rituals), magical worlds and map-making (invented kingdoms, realms, and lands), heroes, quests, and journeys (design a hero, sidekick, and mission), castles, knights, and medieval life, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, superheroes, magical artifacts (wands, rings, potions, enchanted objects, villains, monsters, and what makes a “good” or “bad” character

Space Week
Planets, moons, suns, stars, galaxies, nebulas, the Milky Way, constellations, star stories from different cultures, black holes, comets, asteroids, and meteor showers, space exploration history, astronaut life (training, food, exercise, daily routines), designing space stations, rockets, rovers, alien life imagination
Week 3 (July 6-10)
Earth Week
Layers of the earth, rocks, minerals, fossils, weather and climate, biomes and ecosystems (desert, rainforest, tundra, ocean, grassland), natural resources and how we use them, renewable vs. non-renewable energy, recycling, composting, waste reduction, endangered species and conservation projects, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, human impact on the environment and simple sustainability actions
Week 4 (July 13-17)
Maker's Week
Design process fundamentals (plan, build, test, improve), simple machines (levers, pulleys, wheels, ramps), cardboard engineering (bridges, towers, vehicles, structures), circuits and simple electronics (LEDs, batteries, switches), inventing new gadgets or tools to solve everyday problems, logic puzzles, upcycling and building with recyclables, music, Rube Goldberg–style chain reaction machines
Week 5 (July 20-24)
World Culture Week
Traditions and holidays from around the world, music, instruments, dance styles, global games and playground activities (from different countries), flags, symbols, famous landmarks, world geography, stories and folktales from different cultures, languages and scripts (greetings, alphabets, calligraphy), clothing, patterns, and cultural designs, foods and cooking traditions, daily life of kids in different parts of the world
Week 6 (July 27-31)
Water Week
States of water (solid, liquid, gas), oceans, lakes, rivers, and wetlands, water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection), ocean zones and sea creatures (surface to deep sea), freshwater vs. saltwater habitats, water-based games and challenges (relays, obstacle courses, team play), boats, ships, and how things float, water conservation and access to clean water, storms and water in weather (rain, snow, hurricanes, floods), beach life, tide pools, and shoreline ecosystems

Intro to Filmmaking (led by PS Humanities Teacher, David Allen)
Experience a full week of immersive filmmaking from creative development all the way to post-production and editing! Intro to Filmmaking Camp will provide hands-on experience in visual storytelling, editing, and video production. Kids will learn what it takes to build a story on film and screen at least one project at our showcase on Friday. Whether an experienced filmmaker or a total newcomer, we promise that everyone will learn some new techniques and have a great time. Veteran PS 5th grade humanities teacher, David Allen, brings back fan-favorite filmmaking class to 2026 PS Summer!

Around the World in a Week (led by PS Head Librarian & Advisor, Rebecca Jelen)
Join Head Librarian Rebecca Jelen for a global adventure without the airports! Each day, explore a different country through games, food, language, and culture. Campers will collect passport stamps while dancing, cooking, crafting, reading, and playing. Come experience the world in a fun, hands-on way!

Week 3 (July 6-10)

Graphic Novels & Gaming (led by TBD)
Campers will dive into graphic novels, exploring how stories combine images and text. They'll read, learn from authors and illustrators, and create their own graphic stories using digital tools. Plus, they'll build and code games in Minecraft using redstone, command blocks, and MakeCode—no prior experience needed.

Week 3 (July 6-10)
Spanish Through Cooking (led by PS Spanish Teacher, Isabel Bustillos)
Learn Spanish and Latin American culture through cooking regional dishes, exploring flavors, and building language skills. End the week with a fun Latinx Chef Master competition to showcase your new talents. Join Isabel, PS Spanish Teacher, for a summer of cooking, learning, and fun!

Week 4 (July 13-17)
This two-week camp is a perfect opportunity for your child to discover the joy of math, build confidence, and develop a growth mindset that will last a lifetime. Instructors will be using Stanford University’s Youcubed Curriculum: a research-backed program that transforms how students see and engage with math. This camp is designed for all levels of math learners—whether your child loves math and struggles with confidence, or just needs a boost to feel more comfortable with numbers.

Volleyball Camp (led by PS Athletic Director & PE Teacher, Miya Frank)
The PS Volleyball Camp has returned for the 3rd year, led by PS Athletic Director and veteran Volleyball Coach Miya Frank! Join us for a fun-filled camp, focused on skills development, team building, game strategy, and competitive play. Students will learn the details and fundamentals behind passing, setting, hitting, blocking and serving while in dynamic and active drills. Each day will culminate in play where our athletes will then get to put these skills into action!

Week 5 (July 20-24)

Mini Med School Camp (led by PS 8th Grade Teacher & Advisor, Jesse Feldman)
Young scientists and aspiring doctors - join us on an adventure of discovery. Learn about body systems through models, games, videos and hands-on exploration. No previous knowledge is required, just a curious mind and an interest in the complexity of our human bodies.

Week 6 (July 27-31)
Volleyball Camp (led by PS Athletic Director & PE Teacher, Miya Frank)
