Tanya Madrid-Folkmanis, Bilingual and Heritage Spanish Teacher and 7th grade Advisor, was born and raised in Ecuador. She moved to the United States after completing college at the Universidad Laica Vicente Rocafuerte de Guayaquil, earning a BA in marketing and advertising. She also holds a BA from the University of San Francisco and an MA in multicultural and international education. Tanya has taught Spanish to diverse groups of learners for many years, centering her practice on culturally responsive teaching and the belief that learning one’s heritage language is a human right. In her spare time, Tanya enjoys a wide range of interests and hobbies, from traveling and spending time with her blended family, to reading, sewing, singing, dancing, cooking, learning new things, and doing yoga.
