Jessie Jackson

Jessie Jackson, Kindergarten Maternity Leave Teacher, began teaching in 2006 when she joined Oakland Teaching Fellows and spent four years teaching middle school English in OUSD schools, followed by six years teaching 7th and 8th grade English at Cathedral School for Boys in San Francisco. Most recently, she worked as an assistant school librarian teaching K-2 library classes, a job which clarified that her true passion is for early literacy. She is currently pursuing a master’s of science in reading and literacy at Cal State East Bay. Outside of the classroom, Jessie is a textile artist (ask her about how you can mend your clothing!) who enjoys Zumba, leisurely hikes and bike rides, and of course, hanging out with her awesome kids.
