Prospect Sierra Represents at PoCC!
Shout out to our faculty who presented at the People of Color Conference in St. Louis today! 3rd grade teachers Annie and Priti, science teacher Melody, and Spanish teacher María led the workshop “A Confluence of Disciplines: Studying the Three Sisters to Move Beyond Land Acknowledgements into Changemaking,” where they discussed our elementary school-wide 2022 Winter Study collaboration.
Prospect Sierra committed to sending as many people of color to The National Association of Independent Schools (@naisnetwork) People of Color Conference as possible many years ago. The fund that was created to support our ability to send so many POC to POCC each year is something we are grateful for. The opportunity to provide our educators of color a moment to be in community and to also have a chance to dig into amazing workshops is extremely special.
We think this quote posted at POCC sums up the spirit of the conference well: “You are not lucky to be here. The world needs your perspective. They are lucky to have you.” -Antonio Tijerino
This year we sent 31 folks from Prospect Sierra to POCC; we look forward to seeing you back at school next week and hearing about your experiences!
