Position Overview

The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the school’s buildings and grounds, including its two campuses and a single-family residence adjacent to the middle school campus. The primary objective is to coordinate and schedule building and grounds maintenance and custodial tasks to ensure students and staff have a safe, attractive, well-kept, and healthy physical environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the school’s contracted janitorial and maintenance staff.
  • Manage the school’s contracted landscape maintenance service.
  • Manage all maintenance request work orders.
  • Collaborate with various school constituencies as needed regarding special event planning.
  • Manage the set-up, take-down, and clean-up of school special events.
  • Schedule and oversee regular preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Trouble-shoot facilities-related problems, perform repairs, or schedule and oversee service calls.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of tools, supplies, and parts for maintenance, custodial, and grounds.
  • Manage furniture and equipment inventory (exclusive of computers and other technology equipment).
  • Maintain equipment warranties and repair records.
  • Monitor the school’s utility usage, including gas, water, electric, sewer, and garbage removal, and implement conservation measures where cost-effective.
  • Coordinate and support campus recycling efforts.
  • Manage school vehicle maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested by the Head of School and the Director of Facilities.
     

Work with the Director of Facilities to:

  • Manage the School’s physical plant security, including security alarm systems, fire alarm systems, security gates, security cameras, and campus visitor background check systems.
  • Respond to campus security and fire alarm events as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage facilities improvement and deferred maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate maintenance and custodial work with the school’s master calendar.
  • Enforce the school’s safety and security procedures and program.
  • Review and code all facilities’ credit card statements.
  • Collaborate with administrators and faculty to accommodate and facilitate their environmental and programmatic needs.
  • Collaborate with the School’s Tech Department on technology projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a facilities management or construction environment 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexibility
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs 
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Must be able to bend, lift, crawl, and climb ladders 
  • Ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
  • Willingness to be a team player and show initiative

Salary

The salary range is $60-88,000. Full healthcare benefits are included.
