Honoring Day of Silence

🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Today middle school students, faculty, and staff showed their support in myriad ways during our observance of Day of Silence, a student led event sponsored by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (@GLSEN) to bring awareness to the experiences of LGBTQIPA+ students in schools as well as to the erasure of LGBTQIPA+ people in school curriculum. Some students chose to remain silent all day, while others vowed to not be silent in the face of bias or erasure.

At the end of the day, students and teachers broke the silence together. They reflected on the day and offered additional ways we can continue to actively support LGBTQIPA+ people in our community.
