Caught Reading Banned Books!

InstagramNews September 30, 2024

The middle school library was buzzing during Banned Books Week! In library class, students had deep and meaningful discussions about the First Amendment and the harms of censorship. And in humanities, 7th graders pulled books from our shelves that have been banned in other parts of the country and investigated the why and where behind these bans.

Meanwhile, the Junior Librarians Elective decorated our library with posters they created to fight censorship and promote the value of free and open access to information. And just like every other week of the year, students celebrated having the freedom to read what they want here at school, enjoying the wide range of voices and stories available on our own library shelves!
