Black History Month Learning at Tapscott
This month on our Tapscott campus, we’re learning about Black history through collaboration and community! During a special BHM assembly, 3rd grade and kindergarten students presented the timelines of big and small moments in Martin Luther King Jr.’s life that they created together during buddy time. Third graders read a poem they wrote about the many ways that the Women of the Black Panther Party practice resistance through joy and lifting up communities, following their trip to the @westoaklandmuralproject. We concluded with parent JoDavid and music teacher Kelly leading everyone through a powerful rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing.
We enjoyed more special visitors during our Friday Morning Meeting; parents Jennifer and Angel shared about their Black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and taught our Tapscott students how to step!
