Our 4th graders have been exploring the 100th anniversary of Black History Month through the powerful and inspiring work of artist Romare Bearden! After learning about his life and how he used collage to tell stories about African-American culture, community, and everyday life, students created their own artwork inspired by his style and wrote poetry reflecting on what they learned. Their finished pieces hang on our visibility board this month so stop by to check them out the next time you’re on campus! 🎨
