Prospect Sierra School in El Cerrito has been serving the educational
needs of the East Bay for more than 25 years.
The school enrolls 450 students on two well-equipped, newly renovated
campuses. The two-campus configuration provides the resources of a large
school while maintaining the feel of a smaller one. The elementary school
campus includes grades K-4 and the middle school campus, grades 5-8.
The enthusiasm that all of us feel about a Prospect Sierra education can be felt as soon as you walk on one of our campuses. Expect to be greeted by friendly faces, active and engaged teachers and students, colorful and exquisite student art, beautiful grounds and functional facilities, and laughter.
While we are passionate about the meaningful work taking place on our campuses, we also believe in preparing our students for a better world by taking them beyond their classroom walls. Students develop key skills and values for the 21st century such as critical thinking, creativity, and compassion through hands-on experiences, which integrate lessons on diversity, inclusion, social justice, and global and environmental issues. Visits to partner schools, farms, and local service organizations offer our children a chance to see the world through different lenses and to practice problem-solving skills. Prospect Sierra is proud to be a local and national leader in anti-bias education and environmental programs.
Also core to our academic program is the arts. Starting in kindergarten, students receive instruction in small groups in visual arts, music, dance, and drama. Our exceptional fine and performing arts teachers motivate students to develop their artistic abilities both for an audience and for individual self-expression.
