Abby’s Corner: Are You Ready for the Eclipse?

Almost Welcome Back…
It’s almost time to say, “Welcome to the new year!” When August 1 hits, I am always ready to see students. It’s just too quiet these days, and I cannot wait to welcome all of you back onto the Tapscott campus. We are hard at work getting our campus and classrooms ready for the start of the year. Just wait until you see our new office space to welcome you all in!

Worth Knowing
The total solar eclipse is next week! Since our students won’t be back on campus, please consider checking out some of the following resources to help your family be a part of this historical event. Many thanks to our incredible science teacher Melody for passing these along to share with all of us. FYI, Melody will be traveling up to Oregon so that she can be a part of those in the path of the total solar eclipse! I’m sure she’ll return with some great details to share with students once we are all back.

Some Difficult News
I wanted to let those of you who have been with our community for over two years know that our incredible Coach CoCo, who was with us for just a brief time in 2015 before being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, passed away this month. She was an incredible coach, teacher, and person. Personally, I feel so lucky to have had the chance to meet her and know her, even if that time was so short. She lived her life with courage and compassion up until the end. If interested, please see this facebook link regarding a Celebration of Life event honoring CoCo on August 27 that is being arranged by her family, friends, and the entire youth soccer community of which she was such a huge part here in the Bay Area.

I hope you all enjoy your last two weeks of summer, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
