Prospect Sierra is pleased to host summer camp on our campuses this summer! In addition to the City of El Cerrito summer camps that are held on our middle school campus, we’re also offering several camp sessions for students in grades 1-8 on our elementary and middle school campuses.
Remily Art Camp 2019
Introducing Remily Art Camp 2019! Experience weeks of immersive art making and individualized instruction with veteran teaching artist duo Remi Rubel and Emily Schory in our gorgeous Tapscott art studio this summer. Learn in small groups how to build and program competition robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 system. Students will learn how to:
- build a sturdy robot frame and base
- use proper gear ratios to create speed and torque
- incorporate motors and attachments to lift, grab, and launch
- program movement using sensors
Each day will be filled with fun activities that inspire and stimulate curiosity about robotics and STEM. This camp can be a place to start, or to build on what you already know by giving you more practice with team building, collaboration, robot construction, and programming. The week will end with a fun and challenging competition! Camp is designed to prepare campers for robotics competition in middle and high school.

Coach Nick’s Panther Basketball Camp
Hoop it up this summer at the Panther Summer Basketball Camp. Our camp is designed to assist players of all skill levels who want to improve their skills while having fun. Coach Nick, the Prospect Sierra Boy’s Varsity Basketball Coach, will conduct camp for the 14th season. Camp is open to all players entering grades 3– 8. Panther Basketball Camp will be held at Prospect Sierra School (Avis Campus) located at 960 Avis Drive. Invite a friend and reserve your spot ASAP!
Days and time: Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Session 1: June 17th – June 21st
Session 2: June 24th – June 28th
Session 3: July 1st – July 5th (yes, there will be camp on July 4th)
Cost per session: $275
Equipment required: Appropriate basketball attire (sneakers and shorts. Please bring a snack.
Enrollment: Open to all boys and girls entering grades 3 – 8.
Participants: Player does not be a Prospect Sierra student to enroll in camp.
Refund policy: No refunds will be issued after May 31.

Intro to Filmmaking with David and Mecca
This summer’s Filmmaking camp will provide kids with hands-on experience in visual storytelling, editing, and video production for ages 9 to 14. This fun and intensive one-week course will help kids learn formative skills while working within teams that will allow them to specialize in a production that interests them.
Experience a full week of immersive filmmaking from creative development all the way to post production/editing! Kids will leave with a working knowledge of what it takes to build a story on film and a creative video that they will screen in front of family and friends at our art showcase on Friday, July 19.
Whether you are an experienced filmmaker or a total newcomer, we promise that everyone will learn some new techniques and have a great time in this camp.

Wizard Camp: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math activities with Kathleen and Melody
Dates: FULL for summer 2019
Cost: $275 (including $10 materials fee and daily afternoon snack). Students will bring their own morning snack and lunch. Please make checks out to “Prospect Sierra” and turn in to the Tapscott front office.

Who: Students entering grades 1-5 in fall 2019
Projects include making wands, writing poems/spells, mixing potions, playing quidditch, and more! For those who attended last year, all activities will be new.
Sample day schedule:
9:00-10:30: Make and decorate wands
10:30-11:00: Morning snack
11:00-12:30: Write and film spells
1:15-2:00: Go to Canyon Trail Park for an herbology class
2:00-3:00: Dragon Watermelon afternoon snack, winding down with books or puzzles, and cleaning up
