Kelly Takunda Orphan

Elementary Music Teacher

Kelly Takunda Orphan, Tapscott Music Teacher, is a vocalist, percussionist, band-leader, songwriter, and arranger. Kelly has both taught and performed music in Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Cuba, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the US, and Zimbabwe. She grew up in a large Armenian-American family of musicians in the Bay Area and completed a year-long ethnomusicology course at the University of Zimbabwe (1994), where her musical life was profoundly influenced. She has taught music to children and adults for over 25 years and loves to bring people together to make a joyful noise. She also loves to dance to salsa, cumbia, and merengue music!
