Prospect Sierra Distance Learning
We are right here with you
Even while our campuses are closed, our school remains open and learning is continuing in new and creative ways. During this last part of the school year, our amazing teachers are innovating to deliver content, engage our students in projects, host virtual celebrations of students’ work such as publishing parties and museum nights, and more.
And while academic content is important as always, we also know that learning cannot take place unless students feel secure and known. Whether together on campus or each in our own spaces, the emotional wellbeing of our students is at the core of everything we do. Through check-ins with teachers and support staff, small group discussions, and one on one student-teacher time, we are ensuring that our students receive the support they need to be successful throughout this time.
We are connected as a community
One of the most important aspects of a Prospect Sierra education is the relationships our students have with their teachers and with each other. It is our priority to maintain those strong ties, even at a physical distance.
From weekly Monday Morning messages at the elementary school to Wednesday Community “Meetings” at the middle school, and from joyful student challenges to the delivery of timely information to families, we remain connected as always, in a school community that is as innovative as it is joyful. (Check out a PS family preparing for a super fun virtual spring walkathon where we’ll “Rock the Walk” in support of flexible tuition!)
We’ve got your back
We love and value all of our students and families, and are committed to keeping us all here together at Prospect Sierra. In an effort to make sure that we are able to support our families during this uncertain time, we have developed a new program for families who have suffered an economic downturn to feel some relief. For information about the Emergency Financial Support Program, please contact our Director of Admissions & Outreach, Renée Thompson, at rthompson@prospectsierra.org.
School Closure Resources
School Closure Dates
Prospect Sierra will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17. The closure will continue through the end of the school year on Friday, June 5. Stay tuned for more information regarding the 2020-21 school year.
Staying Well
We urge you and your children to take everyday preventive measures recommended by the CDC – washing hands frequently; avoiding touching the eyes, nose and mouth; covering a cough or sneeze with a tissue – to help combat the spread of respiratory diseases.
Social Distancing
We have transitioned to online learning to create physical distance in our community, in order to help stop the spread of a virus. During this time, we expect all students to practice social distancing. Public health experts emphasize the need to avoid groups larger than 3 people (besides family) and to maintain 6 feet of distance between individuals. This means students should not meet for playdates, study groups, or socialize in groups.
