Kindergarten — Music

Students learn to use their artistic vision, voices, and bodies with honest expression to tell stories and to 
convey emotions and ideas. Weekly visits to specialists’ classrooms encourage creative problem-solving and reinforce the importance of community. Topics correlate to grade-level curriculum. In addition to the integrated curriculum, holidays are celebrated through songs and dance.

Vocal

• Chanting, finding singing voices and matching pitch, singing in preparation for playing instruments

Instrumental

• Using xylophones and percussion for sound effects, call and response pieces, easy pentatonic pieces, active listening in ensemble

Movement

• Creative interpretation to music, dancing stories, folk and partner dances, movement games, basic motor skills to the beat
