Students learn to use their artistic vision, voices, and bodies with honest expression to tell stories and to convey emotions and ideas. Weekly visits to specialists’ classrooms encourage creative problem-solving and reinforce the importance of community. Topics correlate to grade-level curriculum. In addition to the integrated curriculum, holidays are celebrated through songs and dance.
Vocal
- Chanting, finding singing voices and matching pitch, singing in preparation for playing instruments
Instrumental
- Using xylophones and percussion for sound effects, call and response pieces, easy pentatonic pieces, active listening in ensemble
Movement
- Creative interpretation to music, dancing stories, folk and partner dances, movement games, basic motor skills to the beat
