4th Grade — Music

Students learn to use their artistic vision, voices, and bodies with honest expression to tell stories and to 
convey emotions and ideas. Weekly visits to specialists’ classrooms encourage creative problem-solving and reinforce the importance of community. Topics correlate to grade-level curriculum. In addition to the integrated curriculum, holidays are celebrated through songs and dance.

Vocal

• Singing rounds and beginning harmony, vocal improvisation, singing solos with the ensemble, learning and writing chants, raps, and songs

Instrumental

• Listening for chord changes and playing in 7-note scales, continued note reading, creating melodies and accompaniments for performances

Movement

• Dance choreography in small groups, folk and popular dance, interpretive movement, movement games
