Students learn to use their artistic vision, voices, and bodies with honest expression to tell stories and to convey emotions and ideas. Weekly visits to specialists’ classrooms encourage creative problem-solving and reinforce the importance of community. Topics correlate to grade-level curriculum. In addition to the integrated curriculum, holidays are celebrated through songs and dance.
Vocal
- Singing rounds and beginning harmony, vocal improvisation, singing solos with the ensemble, learning and writing chants, raps, and songs
Instrumental
- Listening for chord changes and playing in 7-note scales, continued note reading, creating melodies and accompaniments for performances
Movement
- Dance choreography in small groups, folk and popular dance, interpretive movement, movement games
