8th Graders Making Impact

InstagramNews January 29, 2024

8th graders spent a memorable day fostering new and long-standing Prospect Sierra partnerships during their capstone service visits to 7 local sites this month! Students learned how these orgs are making an impact on their communities while supporting their operations in a variety of ways.

There are too many stories for one post, but a few highlights include harvesting fresh produce at @urbantilth, packing snack bags inspired by the Pantry Kids (@pantrykidsinc) for @womensdaytimedropin, and creating Lunar New Year decorations with @eskatonseniors.

After visiting @sos.richmond, one 8th grader reflected: “You don’t just have to work to work, you can help the world with your life.”

Thank you to The Alameda County Community Food Bank (@accfb), Center for Early Intervention on Deafness (@ceidberkeley), Eskaton (@eskatonseniors), Harbor House (@harbor_house_oakland), Urban Tilth (@urbantilth), Women’s Daytime Drop In Center (@womensdaytimedropin), and Safe Organized Spaces Richmond (@sos.richmond) for hosting us. We look forward to continuing our work together!
