5th Graders Hold Abolitionist Mixer
Earlier today our 5th grade Humanities students stepped back in time for an Abolitionist Mixer role-playing event. Each student researched a historical figure involved in the Abolitionist Movement and “became” that person for the day.
During the mixer, students mingled, shared their figures’ life stories and activism, and discussed the different strategies abolitionists believed were the best path toward ending chattel slavery. The event gave students a chance to bring history to life and practice their presentation skills with their fellow students!
