3rd Graders Visit West Oakland Mural Project
This week our third graders visited the inspiring West Oakland Mural Project, a living mural and museum honoring the women of the Black Panther Party. The students learned that more than two-thirds of its members were women whose contributions are not always highlighted. The mural celebrates their impact and the power of community action.
A special thank you to homeowner and guide JilChristina Vest (@westoaklandmuralproject), who shared how collaboration and dedication brought this meaningful project to life. Our students left with an important lesson: lasting change happens one step at a time, and never alone.
