2nd Graders Create Rockets that Take Flight
Blast off! S2nd graders have been building and launching their own straw rockets the past couple weeks. They learned about the different variables that go into the design and construction of their rockets and then got to test them outside on the terrace! They gathered data as they changed the angle and force of their launches, seeing which variables combined for the furthest distance. Next, they were allowed to re-design their rockets, adjusting those same variables in order to hit a specific target. Along the way they kept collecting information about which launches got them closest to the hula hoop “target.”
They collaborated with each other, had a lot of fun, learned about trial and error and got to see their science learning in action! 🚀
