Parent Association

The Parent Association organizes community-building events and activities such as the all-school Panther Picnic and the popular Parent Education series and Parent Cafés.

Officers: Carolyn Weil, Yolanda Weinmann, Trish Dobson, and Sherry Katz, Felicia Cole, and Sloane Morgan

Book Fairs

The library staff and parent volunteers offer two Book Fairs each year, one in the fall at the Elementary Campus, and one in the spring at the Middle School Campus. Volunteers transform spaces into a book store for a week — and 25% of all sales benefit the Prospect Sierra libraries and fund the purchase of new books.

Classroom/Field Trips/Athletic Events

Teachers keep parents posted on ways to help each classroom through classroom newsletters, and the weekly PS News. Being a room parent is a valuable gift to teachers. To volunteer, sign up on the online summer Volunteer Sign-up Form or contact the appropriate Parent Association room parent coordinator.

Celebration of the Arts

An important fundraiser for the Scholarship Endowment, this benefit features music, dancing, and food; a silent auction of student artwork and donated items; an Art Shoppe with note cards, t-shirts, journals, and other handmade gifts for sale; and a showcase for the music, drama, and arts programs at our school. It is a true community effort, with parent coordinators, teachers, students, and staff all working together.

Fundraising and Capital Campaign

Many parents have been actively engaged in the school's first capital campaign, To Build is To Believe, which has provided new world language classrooms and new visual arts, drama, and music classrooms on the middle school campus. Volunteers continue to offer tours of the new building, as we conclude our fundraising effort this year.

Service Learning

Service Learning projects help our children broaden their perspectives, think critically, and develop interest and compassion for the world around them. Children at all grade levels are engaged in projects with specific, articulated learning goals, connecting classroom learning and skills to real-life needs in the community. Parents help plan and carry out projects.
