Notes

6S will be performing at Thursday's assembly. Amy has told me that she loves 6S's energy and enthusiasm for performance. It's too bad that the class has to perform so soon, but they do have the ability to do some great work!! I'm really looking forward to seeing 6S show it's stuff.

On a completely different note, during the break I drove down to Los Angeles on the 5. While driving I listened to an audio tour of the area, which focused on environmental causes and pollution on the 5, as well as the history of farming and development in the area. You can download the tour at www.invisible5.org. It is a fabulous piece of journalism and a call to activism.

A gentleman entered a busy florist shop that displayed a large sign that read “Say It with Flowers.”
“Wrap up one rose” he told the florist.
“Only one?” the florist asked.
“Just one,” the customer replied
“I’m a man of few words.”

Notes

It was great to see 6S back in class today. We find out about each others' breaks by playing 2 truths and a lie. Our ski racer (Stephen) did not make it to the Junior Olympics, but he did place first in his division. Jenni won her Balladium championship, while Angela unfortunately lost. And Shannon started her own fan club, although it seems extremely hard to become a member.

Students will he working independently on their Ancient Greek projects for the next 23 days. We'll have at least on class period of work a day, but they should continue to work each night at home.

Joke of the Day

“Fine,” replied the man. “Give me two cups regular, two cups black, and two with extra cream

Before a burglary trial, the judge explained to the defendant, “You can let me try your case, or you can choose to have a jury of your peers.”
The man thought for a moment. “What are peers?” he asked.
“They’re people just like you – your equals.”
“Forget it,” retorted the defendant. “I don’t want to be tried by a bunch of thieves.”

Notes

Students, you have a 2 more days to work on your the research for the Ancient Greek Project. After that, the fun stuff starts - creating your character, writing about their lives, creating museum displays. I am excited to see the final products. I've been learning a lot along with you.

I'm also excited that we will be talking more bullying and teasing. Middle school is one of the hardest times in life when it comes to bullying and teasing. I hope that you'll be able to learn some tools to continue to be caring and empathetic people.

Joke of the Day

A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street.
"But officer." the man began, "I can explain,".
"Just be quiet," snapped the officer. "I'm going to let you cool your heels in jail until the chief gets back..."
"But officer, I just wanted to say...."
"And I said to keep quiet! You're going to jail!"
A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and said, "Lucky for you that the chief is at his daughter's wedding. He'll be in a good mood when he gets back."
"Don't count on it," answered the fellow in the cell. "I'm the groom."
