news and notes 9/11/08

Homework:

I won't be posting homework here until students get used to using the homework planner to record assignments. Today I only assigned writing homework.

News and notes:

We started the day singing Happy B-day to Owen and Caroline. It was a nice way to start a day that can be really difficult. We did a lot of today, discussing turning points as a way to write personal narrative, researching native plants and animals, learning how we study vocabulary in 6S, organizing our binders and making posters for our wall of fame. Wow! I'm exhausted talking about it. I'm looking forward to seeing parents tonight at Back to School!

Joke of the Day:

A mother mouse and a baby mouse were walking along, when all of a sudden, a cat attacked them. The mother mouse goes, "BARK!" and the cat runs away.
"See?" says the mother mouse to her baby. "Now do you see why it's important to learn a foreign language?"
