news and notes 9/10/08

Homework:

I won't be posting homework here until students get used to using the homework planner to record assignments. Today I assigned homework in humanities and writing.

News and notes:

Students got excited about creating their Sustainable World Homestead today. As we brainstormed flora and fauna, questions buzzed around the room about what would be possible and how to live sustainably. Because of student request we'll spend part of tomorrow morning researching flora and fauna for the sustainable world instead of quietly reading.

We examined writing by Alex Sanchez today to get some ideas about how to write personal narrative. Hopefully reading from From the Notebooks of Melanin Sun will give us more ideas about how to create a personal narrative. We also got a little more into The Misfits. We found out a little bit more about Bobby and his friends.
