Farm Notes
(This is part of an email I sent earlier this week.)
Jonathan and I have been thinking about activities to do during our downtime at the farm. We are planning on bringing our guitars and making a song book for singing. Chaperones who play are welcome to bring their own, and if you are comfortable letting a student bring theirs, please let me know. I have to make sure we have enough room in the cars. In the event that there are too many guitars, that won't fit with the rest of our gear, we'll lock them in our room during our absence.
We are also hoping to do some stargazing. Jonathan may be able to bring a telescope. I am also trying to scrounge up a few binoculars.
Now for the serious stuff. Please remember that if you child takes medications, please pack them with your child in a labeled ziplock bag. I'll be holding on to all medication your child does not usually carry on their own, ie. epi-pens, inhalers, insulin.
On the day of our departure, we will be leaving around 9am. If you can stick around to help us pack up the cars, please do!! Unless you need to, don't plan to drop of your child off until about 8:30 when other cars have left. When you arrive, please leave your student's gear on the sidewalk close to the landscaping. Students should gather in the classroom carrying only their daypacks and pillows. If you are driving to the farm please park in the carpool lane after 8:30 and we'll pack the cars from there.
Please don't forget to pack a brown bag lunch for our trip up to the farm, and to provide you child with about $15 for lunch on the way back. I've heard tell that a burger, fries and a drink cost around $12 at The Bluebird Cafe where we will be stopping.
We will plan to arrive back at school on Friday, between 3:30 and 4:00. I will be calling the school to let them know if our arrival will be early or delayed.
