Technology Overview

Technology is a tool for research and creativity. At Prospect Sierra we integrate specific computer skills into every area of the curriculum. The goal of the technology program is that all students will graduate with the skills and concepts they need to use technology comfortably and ethically in ongoing learning, both independently and as a member of a team. Our responsible use of technology is guided by the provisions of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). The school's two libraries and computer labs are well equipped with computers, printers, scanners, digital still and video cameras, and a wide variety of software. Our network connects both campuses and provides Internet access, file, print, and e-mail services in every classroom.

The Role of Technology at Prospect Sierra

The role of technology at Prospect Sierra has changed. Planning for the role of technology in our students’ lives is still paramount, but providing smoothly running technical systems is critical to the smooth functioning of all areas of the school.

Goals:

  • To use technology in the development and implementation of curriculum
  • To have technology available in all settings to all students, teachers, and staff
  • To use technology for efficient and ongoing communication between staff, students, parents, alumni and the entire school community, including external communication with prospective families, job applicants, foundations, other schools through our website
  • To use technology to save time, resources and to increase productivity
  • To support teachers in learning to use technology and adapting it both to their individual teaching and to the learning styles of their students
  • To graduate every student with the skills and concepts they need to use technology comfortably and ethically in on-going learning, both in- and outside the classroom, both independently and as a member of a team
  • To provide infrastructure, connectivity and hardware capable of effectively supporting the above goals
