AfterSchool

At the end of the school day Prospect Sierra students go in many directions. Some head to the bus or to carpool lines for transportation home. Other students will head to the care of the AfterSchool programs available on each campus. These programs offer an array of enrichment classes which act as an important adjunct to the AfterSchool programs on both campuses.

AfterSchool Staff -Elementary School

Elementary School

The Elementary AfterSchool Program offers a safe and healthy environment in which children can relax, play, learn new skills, and build meaningful social relationships.  The program offers a diverse menu of daily activities including sports, cooperative games, arts and crafts, creative movement, musical theater, storytelling and more!  Our primary purpose is to balance the children’s need for guidance and supervision with the equally important need for spontaneity and self expression.

We have a dedicated staff of creative and nurturing teachers who are instrumental in the facilitation and achievement of these goals. We allow the children to be spontaneous, to sit quietly and dream, and to learn through the limitless possibilities of free play.  Most importantly our staff offers the children love and guidance, making each child aware that they are an important member and manager of our special AfterSchool community.

Additionally, we offer a variety of AfterSchool Enrichment Classes taught by experienced teaching professionals who share their gifts and talents with the children on a week to week basis. These classes create a unique and intimate opportunity for the exploration of individual interests and talents.

Middle School

The Middle School AfterSchool Program includes a snack every day, a time to read or do homework quietly in the library, and other activities which rotate daily such as arts and crafts, cooking, and outdoor games. Hours for the AfterSchool Program can be purchased from Marcus Chapple or Julia Liepman in the AfterSchool room. You can also mail your check and registration form for the regular AfterSchool program to the school at 960 Avis Drive; El Cerrito, CA 94530.

We also offer Enrichment classes each trimester where children can learn a particular skill such as movie making or dance. Registration forms are mailed out before the start of the trimester and should be returned to the individual teacher.

Interscholastic Sports

Many sixth, seventh, and eighth graders participate after school in a wide variety of interscholastic sports programs offered throughout the year.
