Admissions Process

The regular admissions process begins in the fall, one year before your child's anticipated enrollment. There are several steps in this process:

  1. Call the Prospect Sierra Admissions Office, 510.528.5800, to be included on our mailing list and receive an invitation to the Information Day for Parents and Guardians.
  2. Attend the fall Information Day for Parents/Guardians and Student Applicants on October 28, 2007, 12:30-3:00 p.m. Information packets and applications are available at the event. This is also the first opportunity to reserve a place on a school tour.
  3. Schedule and attend a school tour. Sign up at Information Day or by phone, 510.528.5800. Tours are held on selected weekdays from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tours include a question-and-answer session with the Head of School, parents, students, and other key school administrators.
  4. Submit enrollment application as early as possible, including the $75 non-refundable application fee. The priority due date is December 14 to assist us with scheduling and processing; applications are due by January 14, 2008.
  5. Families interested in financial assistance should request an application and submit it as early as possible, and no later than January 14, 2008. After November 20, the financial aid application may be completed online.
  6. Upon receiving your application, the school will contact you to schedule your child's visit. All sixth-grade applicants participate in a group activity day; applicants for grades 5, 7, and 8 visit their current grade at Prospect Sierra for a half day.
  7. Request that two current teachers complete and mail teacher recommendation forms in early January, prior to your child's school visit. These recommendations are confidential and must be mailed directly from the teacher to the Admissions Office.
  8. Request release of records from your child's current school. (submit release form)
  9. All applicants must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) no later than January 2008 and submit results to the Admissions Office. See the ISEE Online Guide for testing information, registration forms, and deadlines.

Prospect Sierra School, in accordance with East Bay Independent School Association agreements, will mail notification letters on March 6, 2008.
