Admissions Process

The regular admissions procedure begins in the fall, one year before the student's anticipated entrance. All applicants for grades K-4 must be the required age for admission to the desired grade before September 1st. There are several steps in the admissions process:

  1. Call the Prospect Sierra Admissions Office, 510.236.5800, to be included on our mailing list and receive an invitation to the Information and Workshop Day for Parents and Guardians.
  2. Attend the fall Information Day for Parents and Guardians on November 4, 2007, 12:30-3:00 p.m. (adults only, please). Information packets and applications are available at the event. This is also the first opportunity to reserve a place on a school tour.
  3. Schedule and attend a school tour. Sign up at Information Day or by phone, 510.236.5800. Tours are held on selected weekdays from 8:50-11:00 a.m. Tours include a question-and-answer session with the Head of School, current parents, and other key school administrators.
  4. Submit an application as early as possible, including the $75 non-refundable application fee. The priority due date is December 14 to assist us with scheduling and processing; applications are due January 14, 2008.
  5. Families interested in financial assistance should request an application and submit it as early as possible, and no later than January 14, 2008. You may apply online.
  6. All elementary school applicants participate in group visits; upon receiving your application, the school will contact you to schedule your student's visit. Kindergarten applicants visit for 2 hours on a weekday. Applicants for grades 1-4 visit for 2 hours on a Saturday morning.
  7. Ask current teachers to complete and mail teacher recommendation forms in early January, prior to your child's school visit. Teachers should make copies of their completed recommendations and mail one to Prospect Sierra. These recommendations are confidential and must be mailed directly from the teacher to the Admissions Office. FAX copies will not be accepted.
  8. For those applying for admission to grades 1-4, request release of records from your child's current school.

Prospect Sierra School, in accordance with East Bay Independent School Association agreements, will mail notification letters on March 6, 2008.
